Quite famously dubbed as the London bridge, this is the Tower Bridge on the river Thames.

The bridge is named after the nearby Tower of London, which is a historic castle and fortress that dates back to the 11th century.

The bridge’s distinctive design includes a central section that can be raised to allow ships to pass through. The bascule section weighs around 1,000 tons and takes about 90 seconds to raise to its maximum angle of 86 degrees.

The Tower Bridge is the only bridge on the Thames that can be raised, which is why it’s often referred to as a “lift bridge”. It has been raised over 850 times since it was first built.

There is a small room located in the north tower of the bridge that was once used as a temporary morgue. During World War II, it was used to house bodies of people who had died during the London Blitz.

The Tower Bridge is also considered to be one of the most haunted locations in London. There have been numerous reports of ghostly sightings and strange occurrences in and around the bridge, including the apparition of a woman in white and the sound of phantom footsteps.
