Cattle Point Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse located on the eastern coast of San Juan Island in the state of Washington, USA. The lighthouse was first established in 1888 and was originally built to guide ships navigating through the Haro Strait and Boundary Pass.
The lighthouse tower stands at 34 feet tall and is made of brick and mortar. The tower has a white exterior with a red roof and a black lantern room. The lantern room houses a modern automated light, which flashes every 10 seconds, and has a range of 12 miles. The lighthouse is currently maintained by the United States Coast Guard and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
During World War II, the US military used Cattlepoint Lighthouse as a lookout station to help protect the Puget Sound from potential enemy attacks.
Cattlepoint Lighthouse is part of the Pacific Northwest Lighthouse Trail, a scenic route that connects lighthouses throughout the region and offers visitors a chance to explore the unique maritime heritage of the Pacific Northwest.
The lighthouse has undergone several renovations over the years, including the installation of a modern automated light and the addition of a foghorn.
